Vacancy: Lead Teacher – Specialist Resource Provision
Help shape a brand-new Autism Specialist Resource Provision in a thriving, inclusive central London Primary School.

Salary: MPS 1–6 (Inner London) + SEN Point

Essendine Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher to lead our new Autism Specialist Resource Provision (SRP).
This is a rare opportunity to shape a new specialist provision from the outset within a thriving and inclusive mainstream primary school. The successful candidate will play a central role in establishing high‑quality provision for pupils with Autism while contributing to inclusive practice across the school and the wider federation.
We are looking for a talented and reflective practitioner who is passionate about supporting children with Autism to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. This role combines excellent classroom teaching with leadership of specialist provision, working closely with senior leaders, teaching assistants, therapists and families.

About the Specialist Resource Provision
The new Autism Specialist Resource Provision will support a small cohort of pupils with Autism or on a pathway to diagnosis. The provision will provide:
- A structured, low-arousal learning environment
- Personalised learning approaches
- Specialist communication and regulation strategies
- Opportunities for inclusion within mainstream classes where appropriate
The Lead Teacher will work closely with the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and Inclusion Manager to develop the provision and ensure high-quality teaching, learning and support for pupils.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an excellent and reflective classroom practitioner
- Has strong knowledge of Autism and inclusive practice
- Can create structured, low-arousal learning environments that support communication and regulation
- Has experience adapting the EYFS and National Curriculum for pupils with SEND
- Can work effectively with teaching assistants, therapists and families
- Is committed to neuro‑affirming, inclusive approaches
- Is excited by the opportunity to shape and develop a new provision
Experience in a specialist resource base, ARP or SEND provision would be highly advantageous.
In this role you will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching tailored to the needs of pupils with Autism
- Develop personalised learning approaches that support communication, independence and wellbeing
- Coordinate and guide the work of Teaching Assistants within the provision
- Work closely with external professionals including Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists
- Contribute to EHCP processes including annual reviews and professional reports
- Support inclusive practice across the wider school where appropriate
