Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

From the 2021-22 academic year, schools are also receiving Recovery Premium Grant (RPG).   This is part of the government’s package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by COVID-19.

It is a time-limited grant providing over £300 million of additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021/22 academic year and £1 billion across the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic years.  It is focused on pupils who are eligible for pupil premium because of the additional impact of the pandemic on these pupils

For the financial year 2023-24 Essendine will receive a Pupil Premium Grant of £199,605. This is based on 45.6% of pupils who are eligible. For the EYFS children, we expect a grant of £3,177 based on 9 eligible children.

All spending of the pupil premium grant is aimed at moving children beyond age related expectations and accelerating progress. The predominant focus is on English, Mathematics, ICT and transferring skills across the curriculum. Support will also be channelled towards raising aspirations, self-esteem and social skills in order to break the barriers and facilitate learning.
